Test Shots of Locations and Artists:

Production Diary:

10/10/13 - Went to Hunstanton with Emma and Charles to start filming. Was very windy so only got limited shots. Filmed band stand chorus but lighting wasn't as good as needed so will only include one band stand scene in which the couple are arguing so the low key lighting will relate to the narrative. For the rest of the chorus I intend to find more natural areas with higher key lighting to film the artists Emma and Charles. Filmed multiple arcade and cafe scenes of artists (Charles and Emma) and the final beach scene. Now need to do bedroom and forest filming.
From this focus group I am going to play around with multiple shots of different locations in order to improve my video to aim at my target audience.
I needed to practise lip syncing so I filmed some rough footage and played around with the lip syncing and cutting of the footage.

20/10/13: Took some more footage around school of artists on instruments and using clear class windows in order to play around and see which shots work best.
22/10/13: Went filming in some fields to aim at the natural sounding conventions in an indie video and managed to get some good shots. However now I have added my shots to the music I have realised I need to do some more filming with some different ideas in a bedroom scene.

This is my first draft of my ancillary album cover. I have used still image shots from the filming in order to relate the background to the video I am in the process of making in order to advertise and sell the video.

From this interview I will now remove the glass panel scenes as they did not work as planned and replace them with new footage I intend to film next week.

Rough Cut of Music Video

I have now analysed another music video in order to gain a perspective on how long the shots last and how often there is a scene change etc etc.
From this research I have realised that my shots are far too long to be conventional therefore I am going to edit my video into shorter scenes cross cutting from multiple locations.

25/11/13: Filmed final bedroom scene at my house and filmed clips by the river bridge in order to have more shots to cross cut between in order to allow my shots to be shorter and more conventional. I have now finished filming so will do my final draft of my music video.

Final Music Video

I then created a survey to get responses to my final video in order to know how to improve it. From this survey I now know that the narrative is strong and effective and that the locations work well with the range of shots and shot types. The most conventional aspects of my video have been identified as the mise-en-scene due to the costumes and props used. However, as for improvements I now need to work on improving the windy scenes (with more time) as they come across quite distracting to the audiences eye. Also it was suggested to improve the transitions between some of the shots as there isn't a large variety, however I have been limited with the software supplied so will not be able to improve this. I am now going to spend time re-filming the windier scenes and the footage that is in a lower quality due to having to convert the video from HD in order for it to work on the mac.

From these improvements I then went back and re-filmed some of the windier scenes that came out in lower qualities in order to improve my music video:
